Postdoctoral Position available

Michel Laboratory

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences School of Pharmacy

University of Maryland Baltimore, MD 21201

The Michel laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join our group in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Maryland Baltimore. The Michel lab works in the area of bioinorganic/metallobiochemistry, and the new fellow would be involved in a new FDA funded project that concerns a recently approved iron nanoparticle drug product. The project involves developing LC-ICP-MS and other bioanalytical methods characterize the drug product speciation. In addition, the fellow will have the opportunity to work on other laboratory projects. These include developing LC-ICP-MS and Laser Ablation ICP-MS coupled with proteomics to identify the ‘zinc finger-ome;’ the design and production of zinc finger ribonucleases to target cancer and inflammation; and/or the application of molecular, cellular and proteomics approaches to understand H2S targeting of zinc finger proteins.  We are seeking a highly motivated candidate; expertise in biochemistry and biophysics (e.g., protein expression and purification and assay development), bioanalytical methods (e.g., ICP-MS, mass spectrometry, proteomics), or cell biology is a plus. The Michel laboratory is in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Maryland Baltimore, which is the Health Sciences Campus of the University of Maryland. The department is highly interdisciplinary, and the Michel laboratory is a member of the Metallotherapeutics Research Center, the Mass Spectrometry Center, the Center for Excellence in Regulatory Sciences and the Greenebaum Cancer Center, which provide access to resources, seminars and collaborative efforts. The University of Maryland is located in Downtown Baltimore, in close proximity to the FDA, the NIH, and other federal and government research laboratories.
